We are delighted to welcome a new artist - Paul Landerl will be decorating our offices with his works in 2021.
Particularly influenced by Gerhard Heller, for whom he was an assistant, the artist has always been interested in old photographic techniques and strived to travel back to the origins of photography. In this way, he found a technique that painters used to "sketch" their pictures before the invention of black and white photography. These simple exposures were made with an obscura camera and then painted over. Photography gives Paul Landerl the opportunity to freeze the motifs, to realize the graphics and to express and shape the painting as he feels it. As pop art was an essential part of his studies at the SoVA, he tries to incorporate this style into his works. This is how the current series PoP, which deals with socio-critical themes, was created. The pictures are intended to convey a lightness at first glance, which should attract the viewer's attention without criticizing or burdening. Ideally, they should trigger a positive feeling or a smile. Only then should an individual story emerge and inspire deeper thoughts, with a positive foundation to deal with difficult topics.
