From Team to Crew – a Slightly Different Approach to Team Building

At a recent team workshop we facilitated, we combined the time together as a team with a special experience: dragon boating. Three stages took us through the day.

Arrival and reflection
In the morning, we took some time in the seminar room for the team to reflect on the year they'd spent together: “How has 2026 been so far? What has kept us busy as a team? Which issues are particularly important right now?” The specially developed “Logbook” (perfectly in keeping with the day’s theme) provided space for personal thoughts, reflections and insights, which were then discussed together. This allowed everyone to settle in and get in the right frame of mind for one another and for the afternoon.

Out onto the water
Just a few minutes’ walk away, we headed to the rowing club and, under the guidance of professional rowers, the team set out onto the Old Danube. Now, rhythm, coordination and awareness of one another were key. And there was plenty of fun to be had too: trying something new together, laughing together and growing closer as a crew.

Wrapping up the day together
Back in the seminar room, we revisited the team’s experiences: “How did we experience ourselves as a crew? What can we take away from this for our collaboration?” A joint conclusion with time for reflection and winding down.

Want to become a crew with your team? We look forward to hearing from you!
